Double Standards
I NEVER thought I'd live to see the day when the Guardian openly condemns the "hate-filled destruction" of national monuments that is "putting at risk many invaluable and fragile works of art". Can this really be true, I hear you cry, the Guardian actually opposing the ravages of modern-day cancel culture?
Well, yes, apart from the fact that the comments in question relate to what is described as the "fascist regime" of Indian leader Narendra Modi and his wanton obliteration of the country's Islamic heritage.
I suppose that some forms of iconoclasm - not to mention "fascism" - are worse than others, especially when it serves a particular agenda.
