Liberal Attitudes Help Reinforce Social Repression
DURING a discussion on BBC Radio, invited guests from the world of sport and representatives from various pressure groups were falling over one another to encourage male footballers to come out of the closet and announce that they are homosexual. Personally, I don't give two hoots whether someone is homosexual or not and it certainly wouldn't affect my enjoyment of the game, but the desperate wishful-thinking that prevailed during the course of this ridiculous debate (“there simply must be gay footballers out there”) would be laughable if it wasn't so dangerous.
The real agenda, of course, is not simply for those on the liberal-left to collectively soil their nappies over the vague possibility that a footballer might not be as heterosexual as we first imagined, but for the Establishment to move things further down the road, so to speak, by bringing in yet more legislation concerning what fans can or cannot say at matches. Nobody wants to see players attacked on account of their sexuality, of course, let alone their ethnicity, but examples such as this will inevitably be used as an excuse for more social control.
It is rather similar to the increasingly popular feminist argument that men should be prosecuted for making obscene sexual remarks about women in the street, but whilst this is undoubtedly a grave concern the solution is not to demand further legislation that merely strengthens those already in power, many of whom are directly responsible for the continuing plight of young teenage girls and women in general, but to build strong communities based on the extended family. The reason being, that people who live in close-knit societies know one another personally and are thus more accountable than the coward who skulks through the busy streets of his atomised metropolis. In other words, confronted with the threat of familial exposure the perpetrator would be far less likely to behave in an offensive or potentially violent manner and therefore this kind of social 'shaming' helps to maintain true natural order and help stave off the burgeoning police state that threatens us all: Anarchists, leftists, rightists, liberals and feminists alike.
