Reverse Psychology
I WAS reading about the period in which the French surrealist, André Breton, worked alongside a psychiatrist at Saint-Dizier and was able to observe his encounters with mental patients. One poor chap had been brought back from the trenches of the First World War, after walking into No Man's Land and trying to conduct the course of German grenades as they flew past him in the air. Apparently, he believed that the entire conflict was a vast simulacrum that was being performed for his benefit alone and hospital staff tried in vain to persuade him otherwise.
Just imagine, if he was alive several years ago he would have denied the credibility of the so-called pandemic and been cured immediately.
