Systems Overload
I RECENTLY had a brief exchange with someone who disagreed with Anarchism on account of the fact that he wished to replace the System and not remove it altogether. Whether this would involve destroying the existing System beforehand was not entirely clear, but in either case it amounts to little more than an exercise in reformism. Efforts such as these, regardless whether they entail the reshaping of the present System or the foundation of a new one from scratch, are doomed to failure. Even the very idea of an 'alternative' System - be it new, modified or otherwise - merely prolongs mankind's imprisonment within the System itself.
Similarly, the endorsement of political parties is ultimately irrelevant because politicians and ideologies are themselves part of that same fundamental edifice and therefore represent a consequence of our existential crisis rather than offering any tangible solution. It is a question of perspective, because unless you are prepared to strip away the facade of government to reveal the banks and corporations that secretly rule the roost you will always be re-assimilated into the prevailing structure.
The only way that we can achieve a true and lasting revolution is to forget about politicians and put our efforts into resisting all Systems. This can only be done by opting out in every way possible and building units of free association on the periphery that do not shackle people to any political, social or economic apparatus.
